Seriousness of Men's Breast Cancer

Rumor has it that men's breast cancer, much less common than women's, is more serious. The consensus among the medical community is that this is not the case. Stage by stage, breast cancer appears to be comparable between men and women. However, since women are more aware of the odds of getting breast cancer, they tend to be more diligent about screening than men. Men tend to not pay as much attention to the possibility of breast cancer. The later cancer is found, the more difficult it is to treat. But a man's chances of survival are about equal to a woman's, if the cancer is caught at an early stage. Men may want to consider, at least, a breast self-exam in the privacy of their own shower.
